Assurance and Peace

Sunday we celebrated Christ’s Ascension into heaven.  To some the Ascension brings back memories, memories they want to share with others to reveal that there is something beyond life here on earth. Here is such a story:

Our friend Dee took time to pass this along to us.  Her son Michael was 51 when he was diagnosed with renal cancer.  On his last day the family was gathered, savoring the precious time that they had left with him.  The room was dimly lit for his comfort as he passed.

Dee said, “Then the most amazing thing happened. A few minutes after he died, a beautiful glow came over Michael’s face and seemed to surround his head. I mentioned it to everyone. Look at the glow surrounding Mike. It lasted about two or three minutes and then disappeared.”

Dee said, “To this day I never become angry with God for my son’s death. I have comfort in knowing that he was God’s son as well, and He could take him back home anytime he wished. Even though I truly miss Michael, I never become angry. I always thank God for giving Michael to his father and me.”
